Wilhelm Joubert

Viticulturist, Hartenberg Estate
Wilhelm was born in Villiersdorp on a mixed farming operation and developed an early connection to agriculture. After completing his studies at Elsenburg Agricultural College, he began his career in the wine industry in 1998 and joined Hartenberg Wine Estate in 2006.
Over the past two decades, his work has been guided by a continuous drive to improve farming practices year on year – a mindset that evolved into a deep commitment to regenerative viticulture. Under his stewardship, Hartenberg achieved a major milestone in 2024 by becoming the first wine estate in South Africa, and only the third globally, to receive regenerative verification through the Ecological Outcome Verification (EOV) framework. In the same year, the estate also earned Land to Market certification, reinforcing its position as a pioneer in regenerative wine farming.
